When the New Year gets here it is going to cost more to make a trip and deposit at the Crawford County Landfill.
The Crawford County Solid Waste Management District has completed the update of the District’s 15-year Solid Waste Management Plan covering Jan. 1, 2016 to Dec. 31, 2030. The new plan will increase both District Tier Fees as well as Generation Fees.
District Tier Fees will increase to $2 per ton for in-district waste and $4 for out-of-district. They will remain at $1 per ton for out-of-state waste. The Generation Fee will increase to $3 per ton with additional increases to $4 in 2021 and $4.50 in 2026.
The fees fund the programs offered by the local Waste Management District and the operation of the Crawford County Recycling Center.
A public hearing on the plan will be held at 4 p.m., Jan. 7 at the County Courthouse in Bucyrus. The Policy Committee will also have a public comment period from Nov. 30 to Dec. 30. Those comments may be sent to the Crawford County Solid Waste Management District Office at 5128 Lincoln Highway East, Bucyrus, to the attention of Brian Rockwell.
