Fairgoers to the 2015 edition of the Crawford County Fair will have to wait a little bit longer for the week-long agricultural exposition.

During Fair Board Secretary Tom Laughbaum’s report Wednesday evening, Laughbaum announced the fair will begin on July 19 and run through July 26. Laughbaum explained that the reasoning behind the move is due to Labor Day falling back from the 1st to the 7th of September next year.

“It is something that all the fairs have to do basically because we all got to stay in sequence, and if we don’t say in sequence then we got problem with vendors and everything else,” Laughbaum said. “Even the State Fair is going to. They fought it for a while, but they are going to go with the same schedule too.”

Returning to the 2015 edition of the county fair will be Wambold’s Amazing Animals after the Fair Board approved bringing the act back.

Disappearing from the 2015 fair will be the Friday Sale of Champions. Champions of each animal class will be sold along with their species. The decision barely passed by a vote of 8-7.

4-H events in the Youth Building on the opening day of the 2015 fair will begin a half hour earlier as well. The time change is to allow an extra 15 minute break in between events prior to the Fair Royalty Show.

The Fair Board also unanimously approved holding a gun raffle Feb. 21. The event is still in its planning stages with more information to be announced at the next Fair Board meeting.

The next Crawford Fair Board meeting will be held at 8 p.m. on Oct. 29.
