BUCYRUS — Progress on the Aumiller Park Pool was one of the topics of discussion during the Bucyrus City Council meeting Tuesday evening.

Mayor Jeff Reser said the wait is on for an inspection by Richland County that must be completed before work can continue. He has said previously that Northwest Pools will be using fast curing concrete for the base and then several days of dry weather are needed to paint the bottom.

Also during the meeting, council member Mark Makeever said several residents have voiced their concerns about vehicles at a car lot at the corner of Beal and South Sandusky avenues.

“At night when the flashing lights are on, drivers are having trouble seeing if there are vehicles coming northbound,” Makeever said.

Reser said he will contact the owner of the car lot to see if the vehicles on the lot may be moved back a few feet to allow for a better view of oncoming traffic.

Council member Dan Wirebaugh said a car show, Cruise-In for the Cure, is scheduled at Hurst Auto Body on July 27.

Council approved ordinances for a city-wide community reinvestment area (CRA) and various appropriations along with a resolution to advance $50,000 from a grant to tear down and transport a stage that was donated by North Central State College for the Schines Art Park. A resolution for Whetstone Reserve thoroughfares also was approved.

Council’s next meeting is Monday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. It is a special meeting due to National Night Out occurring Tuesday, August 6.

At least nine agenda items will be discussed for legislation to be considered during the council’s joint committee meeting Thursday at 6 p.m. at Bucyrus City Hall.
