GALION — An ordinance dealing with the rezoning of the area between Murray Street and Ohio 19 and Smith Street to Dawsett Avenue again was a major topic of discussion at the Galion City Council meeting Tuesday evening.

Ordinance 2019-5 was sent back to committees to be further discussed due to public concern on guidelines of the ordinance.

The part brought into question is under Exhibit A, section 1139.03-part b, that states, “one-family individual manufactured homes as defined in Chapter 1103 of this Ordinance and built within the last ten (10) years before placement but which are not considered as permanently sited manufactured homes on single lots, provided such homes are placed on a permanent foundation as defined in Chapter 1103.”

The issue discussed was the maximum age of a manufactured home being brought in to the area.

A Galion resident, Mr. Weir, suggested there not be a maximum age on the building, but rather just make sure that the buildings being brought in meet Galion’s building codes.

The ordinance was tabled until the next meeting.

In other council business, Council approved the appointments of both Brittany Craft and Zabrina Spillman to the Galion City Health Board due to understaffing on the board after the resignation of two of its previous members.

The next meeting is March 12 at 7 p.m.
