CRESTLINE — The Village of Crestline has a new full-time patrol officer after Crestline Village Council met Monday evening for its regular meeting.
Mayor Joy Miley’s appointment of Trey Hecht was approved as an emergency by all council members.
Other position approvals by council included, Prime AE Group, Inc. to be the engineering firm for the development of a waste water treatment plant and sewage collection system improvement plan for the village.
Rob Ratliff, who previously filled the role of the village solicitor and the mayor’s court prosecutor was appointed as the village solicitor, replacing David Keller who retired Dec. 31.
Village administrator John Rostash publicly thanked Steve Heiby and the village service department team for their great job plowing and clearing the streets of snow and ice during the latest inclement weather.
“Also, they did a great job fixing two water line breaks the same week we received all that snow,” Rostash said.
Rostash also thanked Michael Hatfield and Timothy Hastings Robinette for their dedication to the community in keeping watch over the water tower during the polar vortex and making sure telemetry lines did not freeze up.
Thank you cards that were sent to the village by area postal workers for the hot chocolate and hand and foot warmers that were provided to them by the mayor during the polar vortex were read during the meeting.
Council went into executive session to discuss personnel issues regarding the hiring of a water treatment plant supervisor with no action being taken.
The next council meeting is Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Crestline Village Hall.
