BUCYRUS ― The city of Bucyrus now has a Community Improvement Corporation after legislation was passed by council during its regular meeting Tuesday evening.

The CIC was proposed by council’s economic development committee as a non-profit entity that is allowed under the Ohio Revised Code to be used for the sale, lease or development of properties that are donated to it by the city, so the properties will not be subjected to the normal bidding process that the city normally would adhere to.

In other council business, other items passed included a codified ordinances update, various appropriations and budget commission tax rates.

Mayor Jeff Reser said the Plymouth Street project is moving along with sidewalks currently being poured and paving to begin soon, weather permitting. He also said the demolition of the old water treatment plant on Lane Street has begun.

Several residents on CR 35 (Crestline Road) may be receiving city water soon. Lyn Makeever is currently working on the plans for the water line expansion to residents that have signed up to receive water from the city.

Reser said leaf pick-up will begin on Nov. 1 and residents may begin piling leaves in the tree lawn but not the street.

“Please do not put leaves in the street,” Reser said.

He said the compost site is also open for residents that want to take their leaves there.

At least nine issues will be discussed during council’s joint committee meetings Thursday at 6 p.m. at Bucyrus City Hall.

The next council meeting is Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
