CRESTLINE — Crestline Village Council met for a special meeting Tuesday evening through video conferencing that included a live stream on Facebook for residents to watch.

According to village administrator John Rostash, council met to consider legislation to temporarily suspend utility shut-offs for village residents during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

He also addressed council’s ability to meet online.

“We received a directive from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office that we could do the live stream on Facebook in place of a public meeting since everyone needs to be staying home as much as possible and social distancing,” Rostash said. “About 25 residents were watching the meeting via Facebook.”

He said council is still working out the details of the legislation and that residents still are encouraged to pay their bills online even though no one’s service will be terminated during this time period for nonpayment.

“They are eventually going to have to pay their bill so it’s better to not let it add up over time,” Rostash said.

He said the village still needs revenue to function and that the current water line project is currently on schedule.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 6 at 6:30 p.m. for the council and will more than likely occur through live streaming on Facebook to keep council members, the city administration and residents safe.
