GALION—Galion City council accepted a grant to assist with future costs at the city’s airport.
Council accepted the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Cares Act Airport Grant, worth $30,000, from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration.
The grant may be used for anything in relation to the maintenance of the airport. The grant came about due to COVID-19 and the heavy impacts it has had on airports and travel restrictions.
At the meeting, it was decided that the upcoming Economic Development and Airport and the Finance Committee meetings will be in person due to the limited number of people who attend. Those meetings will still be broadcasted on Zoom for anyone who would like to sit in on them.
There has not been a final decision made on the rest of the committee meetings in July as to whether they will be in person or strictly on Zoom.
All council meetings still will be on Zoom until further notice.
