Press release
A new and exciting creative art space has moved into the uptown Galion area of Crawford County, OH. In a 2400 square foot space, housed in the Lincoln Professional Building (just off the main square) you’ll find “Contemporary Artspace”, a vast windowless vault, with a gallery full of interesting, unique and inspiring pieces of art. The venue also doubles as an events center, and a classroom – hosting classes and events for all ages and abilities throughout the week.
Proprietor Meg Frazier, born and raised in Galion, created the space in the early months of 2017 while the rest of the Midwest was in hibernation. Her creation is a space for locals to enjoy weekly classes and events, spreading the spirit of creativity within the Crawford County community and beyond. Frazier moved from her hometown to the city of Chicago after obtaining her college degree. Following this, she worked in education as a teacher and advocate of the arts, developing community programs, festivals, and artspaces to provide creatives of all abilities with a platform to showcase their art. Almost a decade later, Meg is back right where she started, on a mission to share what she has learned from showcasing her work in major cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York, but with the warmth and intimacy of a home town community.
“It is a space I wish existed for me growing up, and it was always on the list of things to do with my time and energy when I could find a way. I was very lucky to fall into the perfect space provided by local business owners who are also advocates for the arts, and I am very proud of the vibe and foundation of what the artspace stands for. The art hanging in the space is what I think is some of the best art made by living artists here in the US, it is the kind of art where people in towns like Galion would have to travel to a major city to view, and now they don’t …and I think that’s cool. I’m very proud of it…it’s an important artspace not just built from the heart, but highlights the distinct lack of exposure to the arts and culture in rural America as a whole.”
The Contemporary Artspace (‘CA’ for short) is open almost every day of the month with something different and interesting for community members near and far to experience…check out their schedule here, www.caartspace.com for upcoming classes, workshops, and events. Don’t let a unique space like this in your community go un-noticed! A rare gem of originality and creativity in a historic small town in Ohio!
