In the previous two years the  big tent raised for the Woodlawn United Methodist Church’s Concert on the Green and BBQ fundraiser’s was used to shade people from the sun. But on Saturday the big tent was used for shelter from the rains.

Not letting the rain dampen the spirits of good charity, the BBQ meal and Concert on the Green moved under the tent and went on as planned. While the rains were a threat, Phylis Crall, who helped organize the Concert on the Green, was pleased with the turn out.

“I think it is very good,” Crall said. “I was a little bit worried that some of the rain was going to keep the people away, but the people are coming and it is all good.”

Bucyrus Mayor Jeff Reser, who attended the event with family and friends and other members of the city administration, explained that they support the organization for its support to the community.

“We owe it to them to come out and show support what they are doing. It is for a tremendous cause, and Jericho House does so much for the community. They have already graduated some classes, and they are bearing fruit already. So it is a worthy organization deserving of our support.”

Concert on the Green (2)Playing the concert portion of the event were Jim Greer and the Mac-o-chee Valley Folks out of Bellefontaine. Fred Sparks explained that the band comes from his former home town.

“Jim Greer is from my hometown, so I am looking forward to reuniting with him and old acquaintances,” Sparks said.

The BBQ meal wasn’t the only form of fundraising at the Concert on the Green. A Chinese Auction also took place. All proceeds from the event went to the Alpha 12-Step Recovery Program and the Jericho House.
