BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)– Remembering Our Heroes, a charity operating out of VFW Post 1078, will host its primary fundraiser during the Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival, August 14-16, 2025. The 10-year-old initiative provides direct local assistance to Crawford County veterans in need.

Lori Starner, a representative for the charity, highlighted their impact, stating they’ve built 45 wheelchair ramps, purchased air conditioners, paid rent, and provided various other aid to veterans. “We get a lot of calls from the Veterans Office here in town,” Starner noted, emphasizing their role in filling gaps in assistance.

During the festival, Remembering Our Heroes will operate a beer garden at VFW Post 1078, opening daily at noon with food, beverages, and live bands. All proceeds directly benefit Crawford County veterans.

A new charity pong tournament, hosted by “Shoes for Soldiers,” will also take place. Registration is available at inasoldiersshoes.org/pong or on the VFW 1078 Facebook page. Additionally, a special dinner for veterans and a guest will be held on Thursday, October 2, at the VFW.

Remembering Our Heroes is seeking volunteers for the beer garden, food preparation, and festival tear-down. Those interested in volunteering or making monetary donations can contact Starner directly at 419-689-1003.
