BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Peoples Savings and Loan is leaning into its 138-year history to provide Crawford County residents with a local alternative to big-box banking, according to loan officer Todd Entenmann.
Appearing on Community Spotlight with host Randy Bigley, Entenmann emphasized that the institution, established in 1888, distinguishes itself through a “no-automation” policy. “Every time you call in, somebody will pick up the phone,” Entenmann said, highlighting the bank’s commitment to person-to-person service.
A key advantage for local borrowers is the bank’s practice of keeping all loans in-house. Unlike many lenders that sell mortgages to the secondary market, Peoples Savings and Loan retains its contracts. Enteman noted this allows for faster closing times—typically three to four weeks—and more consistent communication for homeowners who never have to worry about where to send their payments.
The bank’s lending portfolio has recently expanded to include campers alongside traditional home, farm, and auto loans. The staff, comprised largely of Crawford County natives, operates out of two locations: the main branch on South Walnut Street and the north end branch across from Bob Evans.
