BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—New Day Ministries, located at 133 Sandusky Ave. in downtown Bucyrus, is making a significant impact on the community by offering a variety of essential services, including a food pantry and a thrift store. The organization, which has been operating since 2000, aims to support individuals and families in need.
“We’re here to help anyone who needs it,” said Lisa Whited, of New Day Ministries. “Our motto is no one gets turned away. We don’t know anyone’s situation, so we always say we don’t care what your situation is. If you need it, you need it.”
The food pantry, open Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., provides food to those in need. The pantry operates on an appointment basis, but walk-ins are also welcome. “We try to stick to a schedule to manage the high demand,” said Kaden Thomas, another representative of the ministry. “We’ve seen our numbers increase by 37.5% in the last year, and we’re now serving more people than ever before.”
In addition to food, New Day Ministries offers clothing, furniture, and other household items. “We provide everything from shoes to gently used clothes, kitchen tables, medical equipment, and more,” said Whited. “Our goal is to help people get what they need to live comfortably.”
The organization also accepts donations during their operating hours, which are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. “We appreciate all donations, but we ask that they be made during our hours of operation to ensure they are properly handled,” said Kaden.
New Day Ministries is supported by the community and partners such as Second Harvest Lorain and Feeding America, which help offset some of the costs associated with their services. “Last year alone, we spent almost $250,000 on food,” said Kaden. “We are very thankful for the support we receive from individuals and organizations in the community.”
