BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Christi Eckert from the Marion-Crawford Prevention Programs joined Randy Bigley on Community Spotlight to discuss the organization’s efforts in youth substance use prevention and mental health education. Eckert explained that the agency is a certified prevention organization, requiring extensive training and certification to operate.

Funded by federal, state, and local grants, as well as support from the local ADAM Board, the Marion Crawford Prevention Programs work closely with schools in both counties to provide prevention education and staff training. The agency also facilitates peer-led programs like Teen Institute, where students encourage their peers to make healthy choices.

Eckert highlighted the importance of community involvement and the role of coalitions in reinforcing prevention efforts. The agency aims to equip parents and caregivers with tools to have ongoing conversations about safety and trust with their children.
