BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—During a recent “Community Spotlight” program, hosted by Randy Bigley, two representatives from the Crawford SWCD, Nutrient Management Technician Hannah Ziegler and Program Administrator Mike Hall, shared updates on upcoming events and important programs.

Ziegler, who has been with the district for over a year, outlined her role in assisting livestock and grazing producers with best management practices. She highlighted an upcoming Plantable Pastures Pasture Walk scheduled for June 12 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The RSVP deadline is June 10.

Hall also emphasized the ongoing sign-up period for the H2Ohio program for crop years 2026 and 2027. The deadline to apply is August 15. He stressed that even those currently enrolled in H2Ohio need to submit a new application. The program has been simplified and includes practices such as nutrient management plans, phosphorus placement, manure utilization, and overwintering cover crops.

In other news, the Crawford SWCD has launched a new and improved Facebook page: Crawford soil and water Conservation district (using the ampersand symbol). This follows issues with their previous page. Both Ziegler and Hall encouraged the community to follow the new page for updates and information.

Ziegler also announced that the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) sign-up is now open until June 6. This program supports projects like grass waterways, riparian buffers, and tree planting.
