BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)–The Crawford Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) reminds farmers that the deadline to sign up for the H2Ohio program is August 15th. The district has also announced its 80th annual meeting to be held on August 26th.
Mike Hall of the Crawford SWCD highlighted changes to the H2Ohio program, including increased payments and relaxed rules, which he believes will benefit farmers. The program is a statewide initiative focused on improving water quality through practices like nutrient management and overwintering cover crops. Payments can stack, with some farmers potentially earning up to $100 per acre.
Tickets for the 80th annual meeting, which will feature Ty Higgins of Ohio Farm Bureau as the speaker, are $16 and must be purchased by the August 15th deadline. The event will take place at Pickwick Place.
The district is also accepting affiliate memberships, which provide funding for outreach and educational programs.
