BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—High school athletes from across Crawford County will join forces with Special Olympics players this Friday for the 8th annual Unified Exhibition basketball game, a signature event marking Developmental Disability Awareness Month.
The game, which kicks off at 7 p.m. on March 27 at Bucyrus High School, features a male and female representative from every varsity basketball team in the county. These athletes will pair up with members of the local Special Olympics team, while area cheerleaders join the pep squad to lead the crowd.
Beyond the action on the court, the evening will include the announcement of winners from a county-wide second-grade coloring contest and a middle school poster contest. The event also features a 50/50 drawing, “throw for dough” competitions, and local service providers on-site to discuss community support options.
While admission is free, organizers are asking attendees to bring donations of single-serving canned or boxed food and hygiene products to support the board’s local food and hygiene pantry.
