BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—In a recent episode of the “Community Spotlight” podcast, host Randy Bigley sat down with Courtney Moody from the Crawford County Council on Aging to discuss the organization’s busy schedule and upcoming events.

“You’re a busy person, aren’t you?” Randy remarked as the conversation began. Moody, who has been with the Council for five years, confirmed that her calendar is always full, even in the winter months. Despite the cold weather causing a cancellation in January, the Council remains committed to providing engaging activities for local seniors.

Moody emphasized the importance of registering for activities, noting that they fill up quickly. “Even bingo,” she said, “we have a max number of 50 attendees, and I’ve got 41 signed up for the next session.” Registration helps the Council plan for food and other logistics, and allows them to notify participants of any cancellations.

To sign up, seniors can call the Council’s office at 419-562-3050 or use the kiosk in the lobby. Membership, which costs $30 a year for individuals or $55 for couples, offers additional benefits such as early access to activity sign-ups and a key tag for easy check-in.

Upcoming events include a members-only “Galentine’s Day” celebration on February 14, featuring hot dogs, desserts, and a game of “The Price is Right.” Another members-only event, a Mardi Gras social, is planned for March.

The Council has also changed its lunch location in Galion to the First United Church of Christ, serving meals Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. Seniors must be 60 or older, live in the county, and register a day in advance to participate.

In addition to these activities, the Council is preparing for its 4th annual Easter Bake Sale on April 18, which raises funds for the activities program. Last year, the sale brought in over $600.
