BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford County Council on Aging is gearing up for a busy spring with a variety of activities, including their 4th annual Easter Bake Sale and the inaugural Easter Basket Decorating Contest.

Courtney Moody, from the Crawford County Council on Aging, joined Randy Bigley on Community Spotlight to discuss the upcoming events.

“Every year [the bake sale] has gotten bigger,” Moody said. “I mean, last year, the variety was insane.”

The Easter Bake Sale will take place on Good Friday, April 18th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Council on Aging building, located at 200 S Spring Street in Bucyrus. All proceeds will benefit the senior activities program.

Adding to the Easter festivities, the Council is hosting an Easter Basket Decorating Contest. Seniors are invited to bring their decorated baskets by April 10th, with the contest and voting taking place on April 11th. Prizes will be awarded to the top two baskets.

“This year’s theme is contests,” Moody said. “I’m starting to think of all kinds of crazy contests.”

Other spring activities include:

  • Lunch and Learn: A health documentary viewing with a box lunch provided by Center St. on April 10th.
  • Soap Carving Class: A creative workshop on April 22nd.
  • Bucyrus Bingo: A free bingo game sponsored by Unger Park on April 24th.
  • Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program Registration: Assistance with online registration for the program on April 23rd.

The Council is also preparing for Older Americans Month in May, with the Senior Spring Spectacular event scheduled for May 22nd at Trillium Event Center. The event will feature a free box lunch, a resource fair, a hat contest, door prizes, live game shows, and a performance by In A Jam Band.

“It’s going to be so much fun,” Moody said of the Senior Spring Spectacular. “It’ll all be themed.”

Registration for the Senior Spring Spectacular begins May 5th.

Additionally, the Council is planning bus trips for the fall and Christmas season.
