BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A lifelong passion for artistry has evolved into a new local business venture with the opening of Barb’s Craft Shack, located at 150 Penn Ave.
Owned and operated by Bucyrus native Barb Rigdon, the shop officially opened its doors on Feb. 12. The boutique features a variety of handcrafted goods, including stenciled signs, paintings, knit items, and jewelry. Rigdon, who grew up crafting alongside her father, said the shop was two years in the making.
The business operates out of a climate-controlled 10-by-16-foot building on Rigdon’s property, allowing for a personalized shopping experience with low overhead.
“I make everything with love,” Rigdon said. “I want it to be quality for people if they want to hang it up or put it in their house; I want them to have it for a long time.”
While the shop carries a revolving selection of seasonal items for Easter, Halloween, and Christmas, Rigdon noted a particular affinity for “Americana” style. Many of her featured works focus on red, white, and blue themes, which she plans to showcase at local events such as First Friday in July.
Current business hours are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Rigdon announced that starting April 10, Friday hours will extend from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. to better accommodate customers after the traditional workday.
