BUCYRUS — Fireworks will light up the sky across the county this weekend in celebration of the Fourth of July holiday.

A complete list of area fireworks shows may be found here.

The Galion City Health Department released information Monday regarding precautions that need to be taken to stay safe and help stop the spread of COVID-19 during the celebrations.

It reads as follows:

Area Firework Displays and Activities:

GALION

In Galion, the fireworks display is scheduled for Saturday, July 4.

“They will launch at dusk as they usually are, so people should find a viewing spot by 9:30 p.m. to ensure they don’t miss a great show. While there is not a formal Pickle Run Festival this year, Heise Park will have food vendors beginning at 4 p.m. There will also be a car show from 4-7 p.m. and a baseball game for high school seniors at 7 p.m.,” said Matt Echelberry, Communications Coordinator for the City of Galion.

He said officials are following guidelines issued by the state for county fairs as well as any other relevant guidelines.

“Signage will be posted in the park, but the main items are practicing social distancing, staying at home if you are not feeling well, etc. If you have a good view of the show from your home or an area other than Heise Park, that will help us cut down on the crowd. Face coverings are not required,” Echelberry said.

He said he also will be filming the fireworks display and livestreaming the entire show via the City of Galion Facebook page.

More information may be found on the event’s Facebook page and state guidelines for COVID-19 may be found at the Ohio Department of Health website.

CRESTLINE

The Crestline Community Development team and the Lions Club will also be following the state coronavirus guidelines and will be offering several events in honor of the Fourth of July holiday July 3 with a rain date of July 5.

The Crestline Freedom Celebration schedule of events may be found on the Crestline Community Development Team Facebook Page.

Fireworks will be shot off at the old Hutson Stadium sponsored by the Crestline Lions Club

The Stadium is closed for fireworks so people will be made to stay with their cars.

BUCYRUS

In Bucyrus, the Chamber of Commerce has cancelled the First Friday event for August but will be offering activities at the Crawford County Fairgrounds before the Kiwanis Fireworks Display.

“After much thought and consideration, the Bucyrus Chamber of Commerce is canceling the August First Friday. As we all know COVID-19 has made many business and organizations reevaluate how to conduct business and hold events safely. In lieu of a traditional First Friday, please join the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce at the Kiwanis Fireworks on July 3, 2020 where we will have a tent and provide live music by The Hobo Band, food vendors, and glow sticks for children attending the fireworks,” Chamber director Jessie Furner said in a recent press release. “We encourage families to attend and come early. The band starts at 7 p.m. at the gazebo.”

According to Doug Foght of the Bucyrus Kiwanis, the fireworks display will be at the grandstand area but there is plenty of room for people to watch from their parked vehicles throughout the fairgrounds.

“Some people may choose to come into the grandstand area and will encourage social distancing if they decide to do that,” Foght said. “We have the parking area that has plenty of room for many vehicles to park and families will be six feet apart by doing it that way.”

He said he encourages everyone to come out, relax and enjoy the fireworks.

“We pay for the fireworks through donations and fundraisers, such as our chicken barbeque, and will accept donations the night of the fireworks and throughout the year,” Foght said. “We are hoping to have a much larger display, possibly in the downtown area, next year in honor of the city’s bicentennial celebration.”
