BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Unger Park Post Acute is kicking off 2026 with a significant expansion of its insurance network and a full calendar of community engagement events, facility leaders announced this week.

Administrators Erica Lasky and Katie Algier confirmed that as of Jan. 1, the facility is once again “in-network” with Humana and CareSource. The return to these major insurance networks follows a brief period of limited access following a change in ownership and rebranding of the facility, formerly known as the Heartland building.

“It was huge,” Lasky said of the contract renewals. “So many people we had to turn away… now we are able to help so many more that wanted to come.”

The facility is also leaning heavily into its “Post Acute” mission by hosting monthly drive-through community meals. The dinners, held on the third Tuesday of every month, have seen surging popularity, with nearly 60 residents already RSVP’d for the upcoming January session. The program is supported by local hospice and home health partners who provide desserts for the events.

Beyond clinical care, Unger Park is focusing on community spirit with a scheduled “Heart Dance” featuring a live DJ in February, along with monthly community bingo nights. The facility also plans to introduce educational seminars focusing on diabetic management and the Medicaid application process.

In addition to long-term care, officials highlighted the importance of their respite stay program. The service provides a five-to-ten-day break for both caregivers and patients, allowing for medication adjustments and professional monitoring in a supportive environment.

Unger Park Post Acute is located at 1170 West Mansfield Street. For more information or to RSVP for upcoming events, residents can visit ungerparkpa.com or contact Katie Algier at 419-279-6586.
