BUCYRUS—Dakota Commodore,30, of Bucyrus, appeared Monday in the Crawford County Common Pleas Court for a pretrial on charges he violated a civil protection order and a probation violation.

Commodore’s legal ordeal began on July 17 when Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold sentenced Commodore to 60 days in jail for breaching a protection order. While incarcerated, he initiated contact with the victim on August 5 through a letter.

Upon his release from jail on August 10, he arrived at the victim’s residence within 15 minutes, leading to his re-arrest.

While in custody, probation officers examined his phone and uncovered videos of him and his girlfriend, Katlyn Burkett, engaging in sexual activities with two dogs. Commodore pleaded guilty and received a 90-day jail sentence on the associated misdemeanors. Burkett has pleaded not guilty.

During the pretrial on Monday, Commodore changed his plea to guilty.

Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold sentenced Commodore to 30 months in prison. He was sentenced to six months for the probation violation and 24 months for violating the protection order.

Commodore’s co-defendant, Katlyn Burkett, has pleaded not guilty.

Burkett is scheduled to appear for a pretrial in the Crawford County Municipal Court in mid-October.

She faces second-degree misdemeanor charges for sexual conduct with an animal.
