The Crawford County Courthouse roof project took another step Tuesday when Bruce Heinlen met with the Crawford County Commissioners to discuss updates from their last meeting in August.
Heinlen approached the Commissioners asking two major questions about the budget numbers for the courthouse, and the timeframe for work to begin if everyone is on board.
The County Commissioners said that their budget was an estimated $232,900-$300,000 for 2013, but before deciding the exact type of roof a cost/benefit analysis of each building scenario should be done first.
Heinlen explained to the commissioners that the longest standing roof would be to use steel with copper combination; however there are certain conditions where one is better than the other.
“If copper is used it can be soldered and molded, which can be made water tight,” Heinlen said. “The north and south side walls could be an issue, but stripping the roof will allow us to view the conditions and allow us to build a good base.”
Commissioner Jenny Vermillion asked Heinlen if the plan would revert back to a flat roof what would happen with the duct work. Heinlen responded that the ductwork would need reworked.
Heinlen will meet with the commissioners after the cost/benefit analysis is complete to see what direction will be taken for the courthouse roof.
