The Galion High School and Middle School vocal music department is excited to announce the date and musical selections for its spring concert. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the high school gymnasium May 11.
The Galion High School Concert Choir will perform first, followed by the Galion High School Showtunes Show Choir and the Galion Middle School Eighth Grade Choir. The evening will conclude with a performance by the award-winning Galion High School Symphonic Choir.
Musical selections for the evening include:
GHS Concert Choir
- “Party in the U.S.A.” arranged by Deke Sharon
- “In Time of Silver Rain” music by Audrey Snyder
- “Jubilate Deo” by Jay Althouse
GHS Showtunes Show Choir
- “Touch the Sky” arranged by Mac Huff
- “Applause” arranged by Mac Huff
Eighth Grade Choir
- “Tonight, Tonight” arranged by Roger Emerson
- “We Are the Young” arranged by George Strid
- “Take These Wings” by Don Besig
- “Sing We Joy” arranged by Patrick M. Liebergen
GHS Symphonic Choir
- “So Ben Mi Ch’a Bon Tempo”, which translates to “Come Now, Let Us Be Joyful” edited by Norman Greyson
- “Remember” by Donna Gartman Schultz, which is performed in memory of former choir member Michael Harris
- “Hush, Somebody’s Callin’ My Name” arranged by Brazeal W. Dennard
- “Corner of the Sky” arranged by John Cacavas
All four groups are under the direction of Rick Walker, Director of Choirs for Galion High School and Middle School.
“I’ve been very pleased with the overall success of the choirs this year,” Walker said. “They have worked very hard and accomplished many great things.”
