NORTH ROBINSON (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW) – A new era will soon dawn on the Colonel Crawford Local School District, as a new superintendent will take over.
Mike Voll, who has served as the district’s high school principal since the 2022-2023 school year, will take over as superintendent on August 1, 2024, following Todd Martin’s departure.
After graduating from Marion Pleasant High School in 1990, Voll went on to attend Bowling Green State University where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Health and his Master’s degree in Leadership and Administration.
“I got into education because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of students. I had so many amazing mentors in my life, including my parents and many teachers. I wanted to be able to help a student be more productive at things and to empower them to excel in the classroom. Each day, I have the ability to make a difference in the lives of kids and there is nothing greater than that.”
Since college, Voll has worked as a teacher at Marion Elgin, Wynford, and Wapakoneta; an administrator at Marion Elgin; and high school principal at Colonel Crawford.
Voll married his wife Angie, who works as the Chief Development Officer for United Way, and together they have five kids: Drew 26, Mallory 24, Morgan 22 and Ashlynn and Alex, who are both 13.
While not originally having his sights set on being superintendent, the position is one that Voll looks forward to taking on and growing in. “I want to be a superintendent at Colonel Crawford because I feel like I can impact a greater good. I feel that Colonel Crawford is an amazing school district with a tremendous amount of pride and heart, and I look forward to embracing and carrying on those same values that have been embedded by the greats of Colonel Crawford.”
In what has become the norm for the district, Voll looks to continue academic growth and excellence, wants to make sure that school safety is a top priority, and continue the “amazing relationships” that exist within the district of Colonel Crawford. “My goal is to be a servant-leader. I feel that the greats of Colonel Crawford, such as Ted Bruner and Todd Martin, have done an amazing job leading this district and I want to continue moving the district in a positive and proactive direction.”
“I am always looking forward to working with all the students and staff at Colonel Crawford. I am truly a teacher at heart, and I want to continue to build and maintain positive relationships with the amazing students and staff here. In addition, I am looking forward to working with all grade levels to foster a growth mindset. We will strive to be better each day and continue the family values that have been instilled at Colonel Crawford. We will continue to do things the Colonel Crawford way and will continue to work hard, work smart, and work together.”
