NORTH ROBINSON, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Colonel Crawford Schools will join the National Freedom Flag Raising Call to Action on Patriot Day, Sept. 11, 2024, marking the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. As part of this initiative, the schools will receive a 9/11 Freedom Flag from the Freedom Flag Foundation to be flown annually on Patriot Day below the US Flag throughout September.

The Freedom Flag, created in Richmond, VA, started as a simple sketch and became Virginia’s Official Flag of Remembrance for 9/11. It is the nation’s only codified 9/11 flag of remembrance and has been displayed in nearly 2,000 locations across all 50 states.

September 11, 2001, was the deadliest attack on US soil since the Civil War, claiming 2,977 lives in New York City, at the Pentagon, and on Flight 93. Thousands of first responders have since died from 9/11-related illnesses, and many US soldiers have sacrificed their lives in defense of freedom. With over 80 million children born in the US since 9/11, more than 20% of the population has no living memory of the event.

Colonel Crawford Schools and the Freedom Flag Foundation are committed to ensuring America “Never Forgets” through the symbolism of the Freedom Flag. The Freedom Flag Foundation, based in Richmond, VA, partners with organizations nationwide to educate the next generation about 9/11 using the Freedom Flag, World Trade Center Steel artifacts, and the book “Unfurling the Freedom Flag – A 9/11 Story.” The foundation’s mission is to establish the Freedom Flag as a National Symbol of Remembrance for the events of September 11, 2001.
