Where there’s a will there’s a way and the Colonel Crawford school board certainly has the will to save some money. With the cooperation of the Crestline school district and help from the Ohio Bureau of Workmen’s Comp, they found the way.
For the second straight school year, Colonel Crawford and Crestline will split a contract for food services management. One of the Colonel Crawford board’s actions at Monday’s monthly meeting was the approval of that contract.
“We are approving a contract to share a food service director, Keri Wilhite, with Crestline,” Colonel Crawford Superintendent Todd Martin said. “It saves us, with benefits, probably $30,000.”
Martin said his district is extremely pleased with both Wilhite and the arrangement with Crestline.
“Last year she (Wilhite) did real well keeping us compliant,” Martin said. He went on to note the students were happy with the food choices they have available, and that in turn has resulted in more students using the district’s food services.
The second money-saving action was acceptance of a grant from the Ohio Bureau of Workmen’s Comp for $14,978. Those funds will be used to repair and motorize the bleachers in the district’s Intermediate School gymnasium. The total bill for that project is estimated at $19,971 meaning the district’s share is just under $5,000.
The board also approved winter and spring contracts for coaching and extra-curricular activities.
