The Colonel Crawford school board met briefly in special session Monday – just long enough to approve paperwork needed to take advantage of a state program.
Board members approved a declaration of intent for reimbursement of expenditures. The money is to be sued for the repair of the air conditioning system in the William and Hannah Crawford School building in time for the beginning of school.
House Bill 264 gives the district an option of how to take care of those repairs. The repairs will initially be paid for through a loan to be repaid from the energy savings. Superintendent Todd Martin explained.
“We are going to pay upfront to get this piece done and reimburse ourselves with the loan process when it gets going down the road,” Martin said. “Being that the kids will be back August 26th, we have to start it now so we can’t go to bid and do all the delayed process, this allows us to forego that and start on the project right now.”
The firm of Brewer-Garrett was awarded the project.
Martin also announced the district will have a walk-through Monday of buildings at North Robinson, Sulphur Springs and Whetstone which will come down beginning Sept. 2.
