NORTH ROBINSON—The Colonel Crawford Board of Education held their monthly meeting on Monday night.

At the meeting, the Colonel Crawford FFA chapter’s officers opened the meeting as they would their own with the traditional FFA opening ceremony, and then answered board members’ questions about their FFA chapter and competitions.
Colonel Crawford’s officers are: President Keith Ehmann, Vice President Olivia Chase, Secretary Corin Feik, Treasurer Brooke Slagle, Reporter Luke Lawson, Sentinel Andrew Adkins, Historian Kendal Widman, Chaplain Nate Eachus, and Student Advisor Kayla Long.
With the money the school received from the ESSER II fund, Superintendent Todd Martin is looking into potentially purchasing an Aerus UV technology air purification system that uses light waves and catalytic processes to produce superoxide ions and hydroperoxide to destroy contaminants on surfaces and in the air.
The device in question is smaller than an iPad and would be plugged into the bus. Should this product be approved and purchased, others may potentially be bought in the future to be placed in the weight room at the stadium, and larger, mobile units may be bought for each of the buildings.
The board approved a contract with J&B Acoustical Inc. in order to replace the west hallway windows and band room windows in the old building. Being that the windows open, they are considered “air purification” and ESSER II funds can be used for those. The total cost is 41,270 dollars.
Boys basketball coach David Sheldon was recognized at the meeting for the outstanding, undefeated regular season the team had this year, which is the first since the 1962-1963 season. “Thank you for the recognition, but it’s not me, it’s my players and my assistant coaches that deserve the credit,” Sheldon said. “When you look at the trophy case right now, we don’t have enough spots for our N10 championships because of what this senior class and these underclassmen have done this year with all of the league championships, and hopefully more to come this spring.”
The next board meeting is on April 26 at 7 p.m.
