NORTH ROBINSON—On Monday evening, the Colonel Crawford Board of Education held its monthly meeting.

Third graders from Mrs. McGrain’s class demonstrated the math skills they have learned since the beginning of the year by adding large numbers, like 158 and 221, to equal 379 in their heads, along with other math skills.

The board accepted the resignation for retirement from longtime bus driver Richard Eichorn. The board thanked Eichorn for his many years of service to the district and wished him the best in his future.

Treasurer David Sheldon presented the Five-Year Forecast to the board, noting that the school is doing well financially for the foreseeable future.

A long list of OSBA policies were approved, some of the more notable being the use of online learning days instead of blizzard bags for calamity days six, seven, and eight; coaches will now receive mental health training on top of cardiac and brain trauma training to renew coaching licenses; those who qualify for reduced lunches qualify for free lunches; districts are now required to provide hygiene products, including feminine hygiene products, to students; schools must offer cash sales to sporting events, if a school doesn’t provide cash sales, only online sales, but has seating available, the individuals must be allowed in for free; and substitute teachers must pass an FBI and BCI background check, have a sub license through ODE, and must have either an associate’s degree or two years done in their bachelor’s degree.

The board approved the use of Charlotte, a golden doodle owned by Lori Carmen, as a therapy dog for the district, pending certification.

The board entered into executive session to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, and discipline of a public employee with no action afterward.

The next meeting is December 18 at 7 p.m. in the Media Center.
