Moving day and a rebate from AEP as part of a lighting project for the district got much of the attention at the final school board meeting of the year for Colonel Crawford.
Superintendent Todd Martin announced that as part of a HB 264 Energy Project the district will receive a rebate check of $21,881.92 which will be placed back into the General Fund. The lighting project initially cost $58,000.
The move from the old high school to the new wing of the high school was finished Monday according to Martin.
“The building move looked like ants moving a picnic with the staff unpacking at third period,” Martin said
Martin thanked High School Principal Jake Bruner for his work in orchestrating the move.
“It was a great day, the kids did a great job,” Bruner said. “There were times I had to get after a few of the kids for carrying too much.”
The public auction at the old high school wing will take place at 11 a.m. this Saturday. Martin explained that the auction will be held inside of the school, with a tour of the new high school addition at 1:30 p.m.
Board members approved the fall sports varsity head coaches for the 2016-2017 school year Monday night. The coaches hired were Ryan Teglovic for football, Amber Christy for volleyball, Jody Grove for cross country and Brett Kaple and Nate Hill as co-coaches for golf.
The board also approved a contract with North Central Ohio ESC for $83,813.90 for a Speech and Education Consultant and approved the second reading of policies per OSBA recommendation. The final reading for the policies will take place at the January board meeting.
The school board celebrated Mike Tinkey’s final meeting as a board member at the conclusion of Monday’s meeting.
“I would like to say thanks to everybody. I am leaving with the school in great shape. We a have a great administration and a great staff,” Tinkey said. “The whole community has been fortunate to have two great superintendents.”
The annual organizational meeting for the Colonel Crawford school board will be at 7 p.m. on Jan. 4.
