NORTH ROBINSON―The Colonel Crawford Board of Education is looking into new radios for their bus drivers and some administrators due to dead spots throughout the district.

The school’s repeater, which is housed in Bucyrus and shared with Wynford, is also not working correctly. The district currently uses Bender Communications through an analog radio but are considering a switch to digital radios.

Superintendent Todd Martin is looking into this matter to gain more information and to determine which company offers the best price for the needs of the district.

The board also discussed their free and reduced lunch policy, food service guidelines and the charge policy for school lunches. Elementary students will be able to charge up to $12, middle school students can charge $10 and high school students can charge up to $8. Students will not be able to charge a la carte items and if they meet their charge limit and do not pay their bill, they will face repercussions, such as grade cards being held or not being able to walk at graduation until all the fees are paid.

The staff plans to strictly enforce the lunch charge policy because they say it isn’t fair for parents to get stuck with a hefty charge amount to pay off if they didn’t know their child was charging lunches. Parents can send in money with their children or can add money to their child’s account online. They will need their student’s identification number and the password to do so.

The next board meeting will be July 29 at 7 p.m. in the library.
