CRAWFORD COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The spirit of the season was on full display as the Clear The Shelter Christmas initiative continues to unite the Crawford County community in support of local shelter animals.
Thanks to the generosity of residents, businesses, and first responders, the effort has raised $2,142, along with a large collection of donated supplies for the Crawford County Humane Society. The total raised represents nearly one-third of the amount needed to fully clear the shelter of adoption fees this Christmas — a meaningful step toward the overall goal.
The project was inspired by local resident Mike “Santa Sibs,” who is known throughout the community for spreading holiday cheer through acts of kindness. This year, he partnered with first responders across Crawford County to help offset rising adoption fees and make it easier for families to adopt during the holiday season.
Police and fire departments throughout the county stepped up with financial contributions, and many local businesses and individuals supported the effort through donations and by helping spread the word.
All collected items and the donation check were recently presented directly to the Crawford County Humane Society, where staff expressed sincere appreciation for the community support during one of their busiest times of the year.
Organizers would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who has contributed — including first responders, local businesses, and community members who supported the effort through donations, supplies, time, or encouragement.
“Every single contribution matters, and none of this would be possible without the generosity of this community,” organizers shared.
Donations are still being accepted as the effort continues toward the goal of clearing the shelter and supporting future adoptions.

While the full goal has not yet been reached, organizers say the impact of the support already received has made a real difference for animals in need.
Clear The Shelter stands as a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together with compassion, generosity, and heart — especially during the Christmas season.
