The Central Joint Ambulance District board agreed to a one-year renewal of the current contract with LifeStar during its executive board meeting Wednesday night.

The contract, which has been in discussion since February, was approved with a final vote of 12 for the renewal with one member of the board absent from voting. Bucyrus Safety/Service Director Jeff Wagner was able to vote for the contract with Bucyrus City Council giving the go ahead for him to approve the one-year deal.

LifeStar now has 90 days for the ambulance service’s legal department to approve the one year renewal agreement, and have it signed.

Central Joint Ambulance District Secretary/Treasurer Milton Underwood received a text from an unknown group out of Wooster requesting information on the annual inspections of vehicles under use, a conflict of interest notice that is signed which states that none of the board members are related to Crawford County LifeStar employees, a roster of the current board members as well as minutes of the last four months of board meetings from the Central Joint Ambulance District.

Underwood plans to meet with Crawford County Law Director Matt Crall to make sure that the request is legal, as well as if the board needs to have the conflict of interest notice signed.

LifeStar had 201 9-1-1 calls for the end of July and beginning of August. LifeStar Supervisor Corey Wright also reported that the EMS agency also supplied staff for the Crawford County Fair and the Cemetery Walk.

The next Central Joint Ambulance Distract Board Meeting will be held at 8 p.m. on Sept. 18 in the Plymouth Street Ambulance Station.
