The City of Bucyrus has issued a precautionary boil advisory for the entire city until further notice.

Steve White, a lab technician for the City said that during recent construction a malfunction occurred with valves in a water tower. This led to concerns about possible contamination. After consulting with the Environmental Protection Agency it was determined the boil advisory was necessary.

White says the advisory would likely last a minimum of 36-hours.

During a boil advisory the EPA recommends bringing all water to a rolling boil for at least (3) three minutes, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.

ALL STORED WATER, DRINK OR ICE MADE RECENTLY FROM THIS SUPPLY SHALL
BE DISCARDED.
