BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—In a turn of events, the funding agreement for the Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival was repealed at a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday.

Starting in 2025, the city will no longer provide financial assistance to the festival.

This decision comes after ongoing efforts to gain insight into the festival’s financial situation. Vicki Dishon, of the Finance Committee, has been leading the charge to repeal the agreement. She has been advocating for an annual review of the financial support given to the festival, citing frustration over the festival’s lack of transparency regarding its financial records, which have been requested since February.

The decision to repeal the agreement, which was initially established in 2018, was reached after a third and final reading. C. Aaron Sharrock and Kevin Myers abstained from the vote, while Zyan Hickman voted against the repeal.

It remains to be seen how the festival will move forward without financial assistance from the city, but the community is hopeful that the Bratwurst Festival will continue to thrive despite this setback.
