Part-Time Parks Positions

  • Work Schedule: Saturdays and Sundays (split shifts)
  • Responsibilities:
    • Assist with shelter cleaning, trash removal, and other assigned duties

Zoning Administrator Opportunity

The Engineering/Zoning Department is seeking a qualified Zoning Administrator. This full-time position comes with competitive benefits and OPERS. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Valid driver’s license
    • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
    • Associate Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Job Responsibilities:
    • Collaborate with the Engineering Tech and City Engineer on zoning and engineering matters
    • Maintain the city zoning map in accordance with the Bucyrus City Codified Ordinance
    • Issue and ensure compliance with Zoning/Building and occupancy permits
    • Review zoning issues for adherence to city ordinances
    • Handle zoning appeals and zoning amendment applications
    • Assist the Planning Commission and City Council in reviewing Subdivision/Development plans
    • Inspect construction improvements to verify compliance with plans and specifications
    • Maintain records and infrastructure inventory of city facilities
    • Attend meetings of the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and City Council as needed
    • Operate surveying equipment, AutoCad, Theodolites, electronic measuring devices, and computers (including internet)
    • Work effectively with the general public, independently, and multitask
    • Read maps and perform map maintenance
    • Proficient in engineering and desktop publishing software programs
    • Work both indoors and outdoors

Civil Service Examination

A Civil Service examination will be conducted on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Bucyrus City Hall (500 S. Sandusky Ave.). Applicants must achieve a passing score of 70% or greater. Those with honorable, active state, and federal military service can claim extra credit by providing appropriate documentation with their application.
