Elected leadership positions for the City of Bucyrus as a whole are on the ballot in the upcoming General Election but there are only two contested races.
Four individuals, two with experience in the post, are running for mayor. Incumbent Jeffrey Reser is being challenged by former mayor Dan Ross as well as Louis Katona III and Joshua Weiler.
The other contested race is for council-at-large seats on the City Council. Three seats are available and there are four people running. Incumbent Wanda Sharrock is seeking another term. Sharrock is joined on the ballot by former council member Daniel Wirebaugh, Mark Makeever and Cory Tyrrell.
Races for all of the other city council seats and offices are uncontested with incumbents in each the only candidates. That includes Sis Love for City Council president; Joyce Schifer for auditor; Robert Ratliff for city law director; Bruce Truka in the City Council’s First Ward; Monica Sack in the City Council’s Second Ward; and William O’Rourke Jr. for City Council’s Third Ward. Fourth Ward council member Steve Pifer is also running for re-election, but as a write-in candidate.
