For the sixth year in a row, the Crawford County Fair was bursting with sound as Fair Jam once again took the stage on Thursday evening.
Fair Jam is a contemporary Christian concert that is pulled together by multiple churches in the area and consistently turns out one of the biggest crowds during the entire week of the fair.
This year bands Citizen Way and Mikeschair took the stage and received warm welcomes from an enthusiastic and spirited crowd. Citizen Way performed some their hits such as “Nothing Ever (Could Separate Us)”, “Should’ve Been Me”, and “How Sweet The Sound”, in addition to covering other popular numbers such as “10,000 Reasons”, “We Believe”, and “The Only Name”. Mikeschair, as the headline, played tunes such as “All or Nothing”, “Loved By You”, “Come Alive”, “You Can Take Away”, and “Over and Over”.
The energy and excitement was high and, ultimately, the audience was there to encounter a greater message of hope.
Dale Wolfe has been working security for Fair Jam for the past few years and loves the atmosphere it provides.
“The fair is one of the few things that is still family oriented,” Wolfe said, “and this, I think, just enhances that, so it’s a good gathering.”
Jamie Smith was sitting with her family in just that environment and loved the effect it was having.
“It is an amazing tool to reach this community,” Smith said, “I just told my husband that it is just awesome that this message is going over the whole fair ground and I am so glad to be here, it’s an awesome concert.”
Even the members of the bands were enjoying the night. Josh Calhoun of Citizen Way, in recounting his time in Bucyrus, said, “Well we arrived here today at around 2 o’clock in the afternoon and pulled into a nice little town-I live in a small little town in Wisconsin, so it’s always nice having places that we come to that remind me of home. We pulled into the fair and everything was already hopping even at 2 o’clock. It’s been a fun day.”
