BUCYRUS — The Bucyrus Community Improvement Corporation met Thursday afternoon to approve the yearly tax filings.

The CIC is led by Mayor Jeff Reser as president and includes vice president, City Service Safety Director Jeff Wagner, City Law Director Rob Ratliff and the economic development chair of the Bucyrus City Council as the secretary and treasurer, which currently is Doug Foght.

Ratliff said the Bucyrus CIC was formed at the end of 2018, on Nov. 5, to assist the community in economic development and to facilitate agreements with developers to transfer property.

“The greatest benefit of the CIC so far has been the ability to obtain the property on East Mansfield Street that was formerly McFarland’s Trailer Park and is now the site of the new Burger King restaurant,” Ratliff said. “We were able to acquire and transfer that property through the CIC.”

One of the two annual filings for 2019 of the CIC that were approved during the meeting was the transfer of funds in the amount of $48,634.86 from the sale of the former McFarland property.

“We also had a bank fee of $134 at First Federal to set up the bank account for the CIC,” said Ratliff.

He said the CIC will be working on a transfer of property, a city parking lot, that is located next to Baker’s Pizza to the owners of the restaurant that are interested in purchasing it. The deal is on hold temporarily due to the temporary closure of Baker’s Pizza due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Ratliff said the CIC currently has $250 on hand for future expenses and will meet again when necessary.
