Greetings!

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the recently-hired naturalist for the Crawford Park District. My name is Chris Rothhaar and I am excited to have a position with the Park District that will allow me to share my enthusiasm for outdoor and environmental education. I am a long-time resident of Crawford County and have spent much of my life roaming the fields, creeks, and woodlands of this area.

In addition to the seven years as a High School teacher at Colonel Crawford and Tiffin Columbian, I taught outdoor education for ten years at the Mohican Outdoor School. I have always felt this was my calling—teaching the outdoors—as it is the best hands-on laboratory available. Having had the opportunity to teach a wide variety of outdoor related subjects, I have developed special interests in wildlife management and wise usage of our renewable, natural resources. I also have a passion for digging into the past, historic and prehistoric, and studying what the people who populated this area years ago left behind.

Academically speaking, after graduating from Colonel Crawford High School I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in education from Morehead State University, Ky. I have since earned a Masters in Education from Ashland University and hold current teaching certification for Grades 4-9 Science and Social Studies, and Grades 7-12 Industrial Technology.

I look forward to helping in the development of educational programs that will be of interest, and beneficial, to the students, teachers, and everyone else in the community.

Chris
