CRESTLINE — Crestline Village Council met briefly Wednesday evening to discuss personnel issues.
Council informed the public during the special meeting of a hearing set for Monday at council’s regularly-scheduled meeting that will decide the fate of Crestline Police Chief Joseph Butler’s employment.
Butler had charges brought against him Wednesday, which is within the minimum five-day window before his hearing in accordance with the law.
The meeting concerning Butler’s future will include a hearing in front of council and the charges will be reviewed and discussed before a decision will be made regarding his position as chief. Council said they were not releasing the charges publicly until the public hearing.
Butler has been on paid administrative leave since Aug. 31.
The original purpose for the special meeting was to appoint a new council president.
Shortly after calling the meeting to order, council went into executive session in order to appoint a new president pro-tempore.
Council decided to appoint councilman Allen Laferty to replace now-mayor pro temp Joy Miley.
