The Chatfield High School class of 1956 celebrated their 60th year reunion on September 3, 2016, at Janie’s Place, 518 E. Rensselaer Street, Bucyrus, Ohio.
Emcee for the evening, Leonard Kocher, led the Memorial Ceremony with the lighting of candles for each deceased member; Roger Long, Carmen Heiser, Tom Clinger and Paul Beal. The Invocation was given by Silas Beal. After a delicious meal the group enjoyed finding where each member, their children, and their grandchildren lived by placing tacks on a large map showing their locations through-out the United States and abroad. Members told of their retirement activities and a crazy white elephant gift exchange was enjoyed by all.
Carolyn Sand read predications that were written about each class member’s future ambitions from the 1956 Chatfield Annual. Gifts were given to each member relating to those predictions written so long ago.
Memorabilia and pictures, spanning over the 60 years at Chatfield High School, were displayed and stories were shared about the “good old days”. Decorations for the tables consisted of school house favors filled with candy popular during the 50’s, school books, and orange and black floral center pieces. Winners of the arrangements were Dorothy Cassaro and Katie Kocher.
