BUCYRUS―A search that began at TSC by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office ended on East Warren Street with assistance from the Bucyrus Police Department.
According to Bucyrus Police Chief Dave Koepke, a man reportedly stole knives from the TSC Store, 2141 E. Mansfield St. then fled in a vehicle driven by a female.
“When officers spotted the vehicle, the female driver pulled over without hesitation,” Koepke said.
The woman had pulled into the parking lot of the former Circle K building on South Lane Street.
“The male suspect fled on foot and was apprehended a short distance away in the 200 block of East Warren Street,” said Koepke.
He said the Taser had to be used on the man who was resisting arrest.
“It is the procedure to take someone to the hospital to be checked out after the Taser is used,” said Koepke.
The man, Adam B. Smith, 26, address unknown, was arrested by a Crawford County Sheriff’s Office Deputy on a Marion County warrant with other charges pending for theft, fleeing an officer and resisting arrest. He was taken to Bucyrus Community Hospital on his way to the Crawford County Justice Center to be held.
Koepke said Smith is a former Bucyrus resident and that the woman involved in the incident has not yet been charged. The incident is still under investigation.
