State Route 602 neighbors and rivals Colonel Crawford and Buckeye Central will be sharing a superintendent for the time being. The Buckeye Central Board of Education named Colonel Crawford Superintendent Todd Martin as interim superintendent for its district Wednesday night.

The Buckeye Central Board of Education voted Martin in unanimously after returning from executive session. Martin begins serving immediately.

Buckeye Central Board of Education President Missy McDougal explained Martin’s schedule.

“We have given him the flexibility I know he will be here certain hours throughout the week,” McDougal said. “We haven’t set the specific hours on the certain days, but he’s looking to give us around 15 hours a week.”

McDougal explained the process for searching for a permanent superintendent.

“As a board we need to get together and decide what route we want to take. There is different places that can help us with the doing the superintendent search,” McDougal said. “We have been focused on the interim for right now; we haven’t focused on the full time. Now that we have the interim in place we will also get input from Mr. Martin as where to go from here, but no decisions have been made.”

Prior to adjournment the McDougal read from the following press release.

“The Buckeye Central Board is pleased to name Mr. Todd Martin as Interim Superintendent, effectively immediately. Mr. Martin is and will continue to be the full-time Superintendent of the Colonel Crawford School District while assisting Buckeye Central on a part-time as-needed basis.”

Martin will temporarily replace former Buckeye Central Superintendent Tara Meyerink whose resignation was announced during a special meeting on Jan. 2.
