The Colonel Crawford school board met Monday with a look back at the just concluded basketball season and a look ahead to the next school year.

The board recognized and honored boys basketball coach and athletics director David Sheldon as the winningest basketball coach in school history. The Eagles finished a historic run this season with a mark of 23-2, the most wins ever in a single season for a Colonel Crawford boys basketball team. That total gave Sheldon a nine-year record at the school of 144-65 which surpasses Dave Froelich as the winningest basketball coach in school history.

The board discussed next year’s school calendar and will finalize that item at next month’s meeting.

In other board news, the school board approved the contract with Knox Energy of Mt. Vernon to cap the exposed natural gas well at the Sulphur Springs property at a cost of $43,500. That cost is being picked up by the state.

The board did go into executive session to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a public employee or official and to consider the sale of property at competitive bidding. No action was taken Monday night as a result of that executive session.
