Colonel Crawford Treasurer Vickie Stump explained the district’s five-year fiscal forecast during the Board of Education meeting Monday night.
While giving her fiscal report, Stump explained to the school board that the biggest issue for the five- year forecast is the State Foundation funding being capped for two years at 6.25 percent and 10.50 percent with fiscal years ‘16,’17,’18 unknown. Also during Stump’s report she noted that the school is set to receive a 4-percent increase in tax revenue; however the school is also set to receive a decrease in grants gradually through fiscal year ’18.
Stump said given all that information she still feels things are looking up.
“The future is doing much better than what we have forecasted last year because of the slight increases in foundation funding, and largely to the fact that the administration and the principals have found many ways to have cost savings,” Stump said.
The Colonel Crawford Board of Education approved a contract with SPARC Council to provide a college access advisor for the Colonel Crawford High School. SPARC will pay for $3,000 and Colonel Crawford will pay the remaining $3,000 for the position in the school.
The Colonel Crawford board also approved a resolution to join the Metropolitan Educational Council competitive bid process for electric service, prior to the vote, Superintendent Todd Martin explained that by joining the consortium the school system will receive a group discount rate for electric prices.
Donations from the Class of 2012 of $2,382.43, and the Colonel Crawford PTO for $2,241 were approved. The donation from the ’12 graduating class will be used for purchases for the school’s Science Department. The donation from the Colonel Crawford PTO will be used for computer upgrades in the Hannah Crawford Elementary.
