CARDINGTON, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Cardington-Lincoln High School senior Wyatt Denney was honored Friday night as Ohio State Marion’s Scholar Student of the Week, receiving a $500 scholarship during a special presentation at the Patriots’ home football game.
The recognition is part of a new initiative from The Ohio State University at Marion and North Central Ohio Media Group to spotlight area high school juniors and seniors who excel in academics and extracurricular activities.

With a 3.90 GPA, Denney exemplifies that balance. A standout three-sport athlete, he has earned varsity letters in football, wrestling, and baseball throughout his high school career. In football, he was named Third Team All-Ohio as a sophomore, KMAC Player of the Year and Third Team All-Ohio as a junior. On the mat, he is a three-time district wrestling qualifier, and on the diamond, he garnered First Team All-KMAC, Second Team Central District, and Second Team All-Ohio honors as a junior.
Beyond athletics, Denney is active in Cardington FFA, serving as both Sentinel and Student Advisor. He is the son of Joe and Jodie Denney.

The scholarship check was presented on the field by Karli Marlatt, representing Ohio State Marion, along with Shaylynn Morris-Montgomery, Bryce Moodispaugh, Maggie McCall, Suma Addala, Alexis Howell, Andrew Schlecht, and Melissa Miller.
Each Scholar Student of the Week honoree receives a $500 scholarship and is entered into a drawing for a chance to win an additional $1,000 scholarship at the end of the season. The program will continue throughout the football and basketball seasons, recognizing outstanding students across the region.
