Motorists passing by Mathews Chevrolet-Buick on Marion Road in Bucyrus on Saturday should be forewarned the dealership hasn’t changed its brand. But there will be some classics of all makes and models on display in the front yard of the showroom on Saturday for the 11th Annual Lincoln Highway Car Show.

“The car show has been going on for 11 years, but it’s our first year working with the car show,” said Dave Gibson, the general manager for Mathews.

The Lincoln Highway Car Club of Ohio promotes is car show as one for “all years, makes, models and motorcycles.”

The show welcomes anyone with a vehicle they want to show off. Any veteran of the armed services can register a vehicle for $8, all others are $12. But for those who just want to stroll through some classics hoping to recapture a moment from yesteryear and another glance at a `57 Chevy, `63 Mustang or `68 Roadrunner – the admission is free.

The show is also a benefactor for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Disabled American Veterans.

“That (charity association) was the big reason we wanted to be affiliated with it in the first place,” Gibson said. “The club is great and you couldn’t ask for better charities.”

The car show is held in conjunction with the 9th Annual Make-A-Wish Chili Cook-Off. Proceeds from the cook-off go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Proceeds from the car show will benefit the Disabled America Veterans. The car show and Lincoln Highway Car Club have contributed more than $5,000 to multiple charities over the past few years.

The show will go on – rain or shine – and the gates open at 8 o’clock Saturday morning, although registration is from 9 a.m. to noon.

Trophies will be awarded for Best Paint, Best Engine, Best Interior, Best of Show and Best Motorcycle as a result of participation voting.

The awards will be handed out at 3:30 Saturday afternoon, but at noon there will be a special patriotic ceremony.

Entertainment includes music courtesy of DJ Chuck Steele, games, 50/50 drawing and door prizes along with food.
